Food, Drinks and In-Between

As we near the halfway mark of 2021 and look around while we walk down the street, we find people still wearing face coverings and staying 6 ft apart. Nobody thought, or wanted to think, that Covid-19 would last this long—yet here we are.

However, while Covid-19 has dramatically effected our community and daily life, it has not effected my choice of restaurants. During the pandemic, I have been able to show continuous support of my favorite local restaurants in the Portland Metro Area. Whether it’s ordering takeout, ordering from delivery services such as Grubhub or Uber Eats, or even taking advantage of a sunny spring day and eating outside, supporting local restaurants has never been more important than now. That is why today I choose to share some of my favorite spots with you in hopes that you too can support my favorite PDX spots.

Let’s get started.

Thai Chili Jam located at 1243 SW Jefferson St.

Thai Chili Jam offers a delicious array of Thai food, conveniently located off the 405 and only 3 blocks west of the Portland Art Museum. Not only does their food please the taste buds, but so does the service. My go-to dish is Pad Kee Mao with Tofu which typically leaves me with both dinner and leftovers for lunch the next day. Along with Pad Kee Mao, I order a Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk. At most places I’ve ordered from in Portland, they skimp on the iced tea and crowd the cup with ice—but not at Thai Chili Jam! If you’re more in the mood for soup, you may also consider the Tom Kah with Tofu. No matter your decision, it sure will be delicious

21st Century Pizza located at 1221 SW Jefferson St (Yes, on the same block as Thai Chili Jam..Sensing a pattern yet?)

If you’re looking for a fast, delicious and affordable pizza spot..Look no further. With their huge slices and affordable prices, why else wouldn’t you want to order from 21st? I am vegetarian and dairy free, meaning I don’t eat pizza with normal cheese. 21st Century Pizza is the only place I order my vegan cheese pizza from—and that’s saying a lot. Not even Sizzle Pie’s vegan cheese pizza can beat 21st Century. Located off 405 and on the same block as previously mentioned Thai Chili Jam, 21st Century is a window in the wall type pizza joint. It’s easy, quick, affordable and delicious.

Henry Higgins Boiled Bagels located at various locations around PDX.

Offers yummy bagels and bagel sandwiches with vegan options.

Super Joy Coffee Lab

Owned by the same people as In-J Coffee, offering unique and delicious coffees and teas. Also providing delicious baked goods (get the chocolate chip cookie!).

Rimsky Korsakoffee House

My #1 place to get dessert either alone, with friends, or a special someone. This old house converted dessert house is eclectic and serves AMAZING desserts, tea and coffees. The staff are funny and kind and on weekends they provide live music from smaller local artists.

Flying Fish Company located at 3004 E Burnside St

Fresh and quality fish served out of a cute food cart located off E Burnside. Double check to ensure they’re open before you swing by. The staff are incredibly friendly and the food never fails to delight!
